At KinPath, we believe technology should never be used for its own sake, it should serve a clear purpose. In international surrogacy, where intended parents and surrogates are often separated by thousands of kilometers, the two most important needs are choosing the right surrogate and maintaining effective communication throughout the surrogacy journey.
Why a Mobile App?
Over the past few years, we’ve observed a clear trend: most people prefer to complete their online tasks on a mobile device rather than a desktop. In international surrogacy, this preference aligns perfectly with the nature of the journey, which is complex, emotional, and full of milestones that require frequent updates.
The surrogacy process is complex and includes:
- Selecting donor gametes
- IVF and PGT analysis
- Matching with a surrogate
- Preparing the surrogate
- Embryo transfer
- Pregnancy confirmation
- Ongoing pregnancy monitoring
- Birth and final documentation
Unlike a typical pregnancy, surrogacy pregnancies involve more ultrasounds, more blood tests, and more doctors’ visits. Intended parents, often thousands of miles away, are understandably anxious and eager to know where they are in the process and what comes next. A surrogacy app can help you cope with the distance and provide real time updates about your surrogate and baby’s health.
Limitations of Current Systems
KinPath already uses an online portal, but it has its purpose is limited to onboarding an intended parent. It has some great features like
- A system for quotations, contracts, and invoices
- Separate tools for communication with clients and surrogates
- A database for storing documentation
- A portal for chronological journey management
However, this does not seamlessly integrate with what’s happening at the surrogacy or IVF clinics or updates on different stages of the journey. While this is partially communicated via your case worker , this fragmentation causes delays. Information often needs to be gathered, processed, and then shared — leaving intended parents and surrogates waiting for updates rather than gettng real-time information.
Our Solution: A Surrogacy Support Mobile App by Kinpath
To solve these issues, KinPath has commenced development of a mobile app that will act as a digital surrogacy platform to streamline communication and provide real-time clarity.
Here’s what users can expect:
- Surrogacy Milestone Tracker: Clients and surrogates will see exactly where they are in the process through a Surrogacy journey shared timeline and get an overview of each stage.
- Surrogacy Document Storage: Access all relevant contracts, medical results, and profiles on the app itself will be stored securely using guidelines from HIPAA , APP & GDPR
- Surrogate Matching: Clients can preview surrogate profiles (with limited details at first) and receive full access once matched.
- Surrogacy Finance Tracker: The app aims to provide financial transparency toIntended parents who will be able to see past invoices, payments, and upcoming payment schedules on the app just as they see on the Kinpath Online Portal. Surrogates will also be able to see payments received and future payment timelines.
- Surrogacy pregnancy tracker: Once pregnant, intended parents can view a real-time gestational tracker with week-by-week development information for their baby.
- Media Sharing: Enabled with photo and video sharing , surrogates will be able to upload selfies and video milsetones involving intended parents in the beautiful pregnancy journey, while clinics and staff will directly upload ultrasound images, reports, and test results providing real time report sharing
- Private Messaging: Intended parents can message their surrogate or the KinPath team instantly within the app so you can stay connected with your surrogate at all times
- Surrogacy appointment scheduler: The surrogate can schedule their ultrasound and checkups on the app itself and intended parents will get notified of key appointments.
- Medication/ IVF reminder app: The surrogate will recieve medication & injection reminders on the app itself for easier management of the pregnancy
- Checklists: Each stage will generate a clear checklist of requirements so all users understand what comes next.
- Surrogate wellness information: The surrogate will be provided additional resources within the app like journalling tools, nutritional information , articles on mental wellness , mood regulation & mindfullness, meditation videos etc
Benefits for Clients and Surrogates
- Real-Time Communication: No more waiting hours or days for updates.
- Transparency: Every step, document, and payment is visible in one place.
- Convenience: Everything from the first inquiry to the final departure home happens within the app.
- Trust and Peace of Mind: By making information accessible & emotional bonding stronger -misunderstandings are reduced and confidence in the process is strengthened.
